ROLE IMPACT
The Service Support Assistant is the first point of contact for constituents engaging with the City’s Utility Customer Service department. This role ensures high-quality service by managing calls, in-person inquiries, and financial transactions, while maintaining accurate records and balanced cash handling procedures.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
• Respond to inbound phone, radio, and email inquiries from the public and internal staff across multiple departments
• Log and resolve constituent inquiries, complaints, and service requests using work order and tracking systems
• Accept and process check, cash, and credit card payments for utilities, citations, and city services
• Maintain and balance cash drawers daily; prepare bank deposit documents and financial logs
• Open, terminate, and maintain customer utility accounts in compliance with city procedures

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
• High School Diploma or GED
• 1+ year experience in customer service, inbound call center, or cash handling
• Proficient with office software and database entry
• Skilled in handling customer complaints and managing financial transactions

CORE TOOLS & SYSTEMS
• Office phone system and email platforms
• Payment processing and receipt systems
• Work order tracking/database platforms
• Microsoft Office Suite or equivalent software
• Standard office equipment (scanner, printer, cash drawer)

PREFERRED SKILLS
• Bilingual: Spanish/English
• Experience working in a municipal or government office
• Familiarity with utility billing or citation systems
