ROLE IMPACT
The Senior Real Estate Specialist plays a critical role in acquiring and leasing property to support public improvement initiatives. This position ensures that complex real estate transactions are conducted in compliance with legal, financial, and procedural requirements, mitigating risk and enabling project success. The role involves independent appraisal, contract management, negotiations, and coordination with legal and city leadership.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
• Lead real estate acquisition and leasing efforts for public projects, ensuring compliance and minimizing liability
• Conduct negotiations with property owners and prepare transactional documentation
• Develop and submit capital funding requests for acquisition projects and maintain legal-ready documentation
• Coordinate condemnation proceedings and abandonment requests, including legal research and documentation processing
• Present reports and testify in legal hearings or before council officials on real estate matters
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
• Bachelor’s degree in real estate or business field OR equivalent combination of education and experience
• 4+ years in general real estate transactions or related program/contract management
• Knowledge of eminent domain, condemnation procedures, and title/closing processes
• Strong verbal/written communication skills and ability to manage high-stakes negotiations
