COMPENSATION & SCHEDULE
• $20.00/hour
• Part-Time Schedule:
• Tuesday: 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM
• Thursday: 11:00 AM – 8:00 PM
• Saturday: 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM
• W2 | Start Date: ASAP
ROLE IMPACT
The Library Public Service Specialist I delivers essential support in a community-facing environment—helping patrons navigate technology, access resources, and participate in enriching programming. This position requires strong communication skills, digital proficiency, and a commitment to inclusive service for all ages.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
• Assist patrons with reference questions using online catalogs, digital platforms, and the Internet
• Provide guidance for computer use, job searches, and basic tech support
• Recommend library materials and assist with reader advisory services
• Create displays, reading lists, and program materials under team direction
• Help implement educational and outreach events
• Maintain cleanliness, organization, and daily library operations
• Support other locations as needed
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
• Bachelor's degree in English, Library Sciences, History, or other related field
• 2 years of customer service or library service experience
• Excellent interpersonal skills for engaging patrons of all backgrounds
• Comfortable with Microsoft Office, library software, and digital content tools

• Digital content and public computing platforms
PREFERRED SKILLS
• Spanish or multilingual fluency
• Experience with community literacy or educational outreach
• Strong public speaking and engagement skills
