Financial Accountant
Location: Dallas (75247) | Hybrid (Minimum 3 Days In-Office)
Compensation & Schedule
• $31+/hr BOE
• Monday – Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM
Role Impact
The Financial Accountant supports the financial integrity and compliance of a mission-driven nonprofit organization serving Dallas and Collin Counties. This role ensures accurate financial reporting, grant compliance, and audit readiness to support sustainable funding and operational excellence. Success in this role means delivering timely financial insights, maintaining strong internal controls, and ensuring full compliance with GAAP and federal/state grant regulations.
Key Responsibilities
• Prepare and reconcile monthly financial records, including revenue recognition, general ledger entries, and balance sheet reconciliations
• Assist with grant and contract reimbursement requests, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and funding agency requirements
• Perform month-end and year-end close processes, including preparation of reconciliation workpapers and audit documentation
• Monitor budget-to-actual reporting and analyze variances to support leadership decision-making
• Support accounts payable and accounts receivable functions, including expense reimbursements, benefit reconciliations, and fixed asset tracking
Minimum Qualifications
• 3+ years of experience in accounting, finance, budgeting, or related field
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related discipline preferred
• Strong knowledge of GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles), government grant compliance, and financial reconciliation processes
Core Tools & Systems
• Microsoft Excel (advanced proficiency)
• QuickBooks (accounting software)
• Payroll systems (Paycor preferred)
• Microsoft Office Suite
Preferred Skills
• Experience with nonprofit accounting and federal/state grant billing
• Strong analytical skills with ability to interpret financial data and trends
