Role Impact
The Loss Terminations Representative is responsible for resolving charged-off, repossessed, total loss, and lease-end deficiency accounts. This role focuses on recovering outstanding balances while delivering professional, compliant, and solutions-driven customer interactions. Success is measured by account resolution, negotiated payment arrangements, and adherence to financial services compliance standards.
Key Duties
• Make outbound and receive inbound calls to collect on terminated accounts, including total loss balances, repossession deficiencies, lease-end charges (mileage, wear and tear, property tax), and other post-termination obligations
• Negotiate payment solutions and establish repayment arrangements while documenting all activity accurately in account systems
• Manage an assigned portfolio of loss and termination accounts, ensuring timely follow-up on pending payments and expired arrangements
• Perform skip tracing (locating customers and collateral using research tools and databases) and coordinate repossession assignments when applicable
• Collaborate with internal departments and external partners to resolve escalated issues and maintain regulatory compliance
Minimum Qualifications
• High School Diploma or GED required (Bachelor’s degree preferred)
• 1–2 years of experience in collections, loss recovery, or customer service
• Strong negotiation skills with the ability to handle sensitive financial conversations professionally
Equipment & Work Environment
• Office-based, high-volume call environment
• Extended periods of sitting and phone/computer use
• Use of dialer systems, account management software, and skip tracing tools
Preferred Skills
• Experience in auto finance, vehicle lending, or deficiency balance recovery
• Familiarity with repossession processes and total loss account handling
• Knowledge of collections compliance and consumer finance regulations
